UPDATE 9/2/08
Good afternoon everyone! I hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend!
We are deeply sorry to let you all know that we have to postpone the Rock4Change Benefit Concert that was scheduled for this Thursday, September 4th at the Gibson Amphitheatre to a new date between the end of October - early November as our ticket sales to date would not have enabled us to reach our important goal of fully funding the Reforestation Project in Darfur (through Aid Still Required) and the Clean Springs Campaign in Uganda (through Hands Across Nations) so that our collective efforts can help save millions of lives. The entire reason for putting together this amazing concert and all of us coming together is to affect positive change on such a grand scale and we are beyond committed and determined to reach our goal. This is a difficult decision as you can all imagine, but one we had to make this afternoon in order to be able to have our incredible team's efforts, time, energy and focus equal the goal of being able to help millions of people in Darfur & Uganda who need our assistance.
We know that with more press and promotion it will be even bigger and better, and we already have some exciting offers from potential TV partners who want to broadcast the Rock4Change Benefit Concert to millions of people around the world, enabling us to raise even more money and awareness for the two charities that we care so much about. This morning we had amazing press hits for the event and the cause with Dane Cook, Flea, Tom Morello and Max & Jason from Current TV all making the rounds on KTLA News, ABC News Now, ABC Radio, MTV Radio and Dr. Drew's show all promoting Rock4Change. We wish the turnaround time for the press hits would translate into big ticket sale numbers immediately, so that we could move forward with this week's show, but are confident that with even more time, more press, more promotion and more momentum, Rock4Change will surpass our initial goals and make such an amazingly positive difference that we can all be proud of. We also have some other Grammy award winning artist friends who were unable to participate in the September 4th date due to schedule conflicts that we are excited to be able to have participate in the new concert date.
On a personal note, I can truly say that this is the most fulfilling work I have ever been a part of in my life, and this is something that my partner and I have poured our hearts into and care so deeply about, and we are even more committed to the cause and taking the new Rock4Change date to the next level with all of you on our team. We are still planning our trip to Uganda post concert this Fall to meet the people will be helping via the Rock4Change Benefit Concert and to pilot our Video Pen Pal Program. We have received such incredible interest and support from partners across the globe wanting to bring the Rock4Change Benefit Concert series to cities all over the world so that together we can all rock to change the world.
For everyone that purchased tickets or won tickets via contest/radio promotions to the event, they will be honored at the new Rock4Change concert in October. We will be sending out an official press release soon with the new date and announcing our plans for an even bigger and better Rock4Change Benefit Concert.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience the date change may cause to all of you and we really appreciate your support, time, energy & hard work for the cause. Thanks for sharing in our Rock4Change vision and for being such integral members of our team, we can't do it without you! We look forward to making the event a huge success together and to being able to celebrate with all of you and with the teams at Aid Still Required and Hands Across Nations that we funded the Reforestation Project and the Clean Springs Campaign in their entirety. We know in the end that moving the date will positively effect our ability to raise even more money then we initially set out to and the impact will be even greater.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
Best,
Amy
